Buhais Geological Center

The Buhais region is geologically formed by a deformation of the earth's crust that occurred when the tectonic plate of the Arabian Peninsula shifted.

Large rocky ridges rose up from the seabed. This is why all the rocks are in fact fossils dating back several million years.

This is explained in a very educational way in the Buhais geological park.

This is one of the few places in the world where you can see the inside of the earth's crust, as natural erosion has caused the surface to disappear, leaving the part that is not usually visible.

These rocks have very distinctive colours and equally original concretions.
