Wahiba Sand Desert

(East side)

In the south of Nizwa to the Oman sea, there is a beautiful desert : Wahiba Sand

Remember to stock up on water, food and fuel before you set off into the dunes of the Wahiba Desert.

At first, the track is very rolling and progress is easy.

A few kilometers before joining the main east-west trail, the difficulties begin.

The dunes are higher and the more technical sections require a good knowledge of sand driving. For the last few kilometers, you have to navigate by sight, as the track disappears completely into the dunes. Don't venture out here without very good equipment and proven experience.

There are plenty of camping sites, or if you prefer a desert camp, we recommend Queen Desert Camp (reservation required). The camp is magnificent and the welcome is top-notch. It's a wonderful place to relax and watch the sun rise and set.

Be careful, the location of the camp in google maps is wrong.

Use this GPS coordinate to find the camp  : 22.08095, 59.16725
