Dunes crossing

As with any technique, dune-crossing is a learning process, so you need to repeat and repeat and repeat.

It's best to try it out on small dunes first!

Be careful, we always cross a dune on its less steep side and then descend straight down the slope (perpendicularly).

As with obstacle clearance, you need to be gentle and use the kinetics of the car; never force your way through.

Be careful, we always cross a dune on its less steep side and head straight down the slope.

The manoeuvre takes place in three stages

1.

You gain (reasonable) momentum and launch yourself up the dune, keeping the throttle all the way to the top.

2.

As soon as the front wheels have crossed the crest of the dune, release the throttle completely.

3.

We let the nose of the car dip down the dune; the weight will carry us down the slope without needing to throttle.
