Saudi Arabia GPS Routes and Maps

Jubbah -> Campground Arche

Take the opportunity to visit the exceptional Jubbah rock site early in the morning, when the lights are splendid and there are few or no visitors.

After the visit, depart for your next camping spot in the Saudi desert. The first part of the journey is easy, with a rolling track. In the second part, you'll have to cross long, stony plateaus that will put your tires to the test. But the arrival in the sandier zone will delight you. The mountain scenery is fabulous, the rocky concretions simply magical, and at sunset, the reds and ochres take on enchanting colors. The place is ideal for camping and spending a good night. Avoid going at weekends if you prefer a little privacy.

Arche -> Al Ula

The rest of the route offers breathtaking scenery. All you have to do is follow a fairly well-marked track, sometimes with a fair amount of sand, so it's best to deflate your tires before you set off.

The route between mountains and plains is majestic, and you'll be alone in the world to enjoy the beauty of this region.

In the second part, you'll have to cross the mountain range of the Zelma region. Here, sharp stones will take the place of beautiful rolling tracks. Your progress will be more difficult and, above all, much slower. Orientation is also trickier, as there are a multitude of tracks leading nowhere. So you'll need to pay close attention and follow your GPS to make sure you don't get lost. The plateau is over 1000m above sea level, so from sunset onwards it's rather cold and windy.  Find a nice sheltered spot to set up camp, and don't forget that there are plenty of camels roaming free!

Beware, most of the time you won't have a GSM signal.

Time required : about 2 days (440 km)
