Driving in convoy
Driving in a convoy requires special attention, as you need to be constantly aware of the links between the vehicle in front and the one behind you.
A glance in the rear-view mirror must become a constant reflex, so as not to lose sight of the vehicle behind you.
If it moves too far away, slow down. The vehicle in front of you does the same, keeping the whole convoy together.
The convoy stops only on a signal from the vehicle in front (except in an emergency, of course).
Rules for driving in convoy
The lead vehicle sets the pace
I stay in my position, I don't overtake the vehicle in front of me.
At a traffic light or stop sign, if the whole convoy cannot pass, wait on the other side of the intersection.
I keep an adequate distance
In town, drive as close as possible
I always check that the vehicle behind me is at the right distance, and slow down if necessary.
When crossing an obstacle, I keep a reasonable distance to allow the vehicle in front of me to reverse if necessary.
I launch myself at the obstacle only when I'm sure that the vehicle in front of me is safe.
On and off the track, I stay in the tracks of the vehicle in front of me and keep a safe distance.
When there's a lot of dust, I keep my distance to avoid an accident
