Misfat Al Abryeen
On the southern slopes of Jebel Akhdar lies a magnificent village nestled in an immense palm grove: Misfat Al Abreeyn (Misfat).Â
Easy access by road from Mascat and Nizwa or by trail from Rustaq. The latter route is breathtaking: the trail crosses the mountain to a pass at 2000m altitude. A 4x4 or SUV will allow you to admire mountain landscapes and sumptuous wadis. Before leaving Rustaq, make sure you have enough fuel, food and drink, as you won't find anything on the track. Allow plenty of time, as you'll be stopping frequently to take lots of photos.
There is no GSM coverage in the Jebel Akhdar Mountains
Difficulty
2/5 easy route, but can be scary when the trail ends up on a hillside with an impressive gradient.
